THis is where i grew up....and where my parents still live.
Its pretty scary to think that the fire is going through this beautiful area in Gippsland.
My parents are pretty close to evacuating
SO fingers crossed their house is spared.....

Yep....just when i thought I was bouncing back.

I was HIT with a bad case of an ALLERGIC REACTION to my last lot of antibiotics that I was taking for my Tonsilitis. Who would have thought I would be allergic to Penicillin after all these years of suffering with Tonsilitis.

Sunday I was so tired and my head and knees felt really itchy...but I didnt think anything of it.
Monday morning around 4am I woke up feeling extremely itchy. I felt raised bumps all over my body. I got up and looked in the mirror and what i saw looking back at me was a FREAK...lol!
My eye lids were the size of golf balls and my entire body was covered in a REALLY ITCHY rash - it was NASTEEEEEY!

Today the rash has spread even more....and im embarassed to go out in public....lol!
I have to return back to work tomorrow (I had to have a couple of days off....even though I have no sick days left) I just hope the rash has gone from my face.

I have a good excuse.....honest!

I have been 'knocked' over again with a bad case of TONSILITIS - this is the 3rd case of it, in as many months.
This time around my left tonsil decided to TRIPLE in size and cause me ALOT of pain.
I was unable to eat for 3 days....and drinking water and swallowing my medication - brought tears to my eyes. (weigh-in on friday should be good....lol)

On the mend today....so lets hope its the last i see of TONSILITIS for a while atleast....

We had a fantastic weekend.
Lauchie's grandparents came down to visit......Lauchie was so excited, that he was counting down the days till they came........

On Sunday, I took Lauchie to the Dandenong Show.
It was a great day.
Lauchie went on some rides (including the dodgem cars with me)
and chose himself 2 showbags.

Yep thats lauchie sliding down the 'Lightning McQueen' jumping castle.

Here is one of the showbags that Lauchie chose
He was very impressed with 'showbags'...giggle

He chose the Pirates of the Carribbean showbag and the Candy World Showbag (pretty good choices I reckon!!!!)

We then headed for the 'animal nursery'

and these photos were taken especially for Grandma and Grandpa

Lauchie wanted to be in front of all the 'tools and equipment' - pretty cool really!

and then just before we headed for home.....lauchie had one more ride to choose.

earlier in the week the weather report was 18 with possible showers.....we ended up with 28 and absolutely no rain to be seen.
It was a beautiful day for Heidi and Clint and all those who came to help celebrate their marriage together.

Glimmer Mist

I've been meaning to write up a review on the Glimmer Mist for awhile now.

Lorrie from http://www.scrapbookcapital.com.au/ ordered in some for me after I saw some girls from the US using it on their cards and projects etc.

I have started off with 3 colours....but i know im going to be wanting some more very soon.

I have: Coffee Shop, Pink Ink and Graphite.

It is super easy to use....basically just spray over your project until you get the desired coverage.

Make sure you dont 'over' soak when using on chipboard, as it can warp a little - just hold the bottle up a little higher and make sure you have some newspaper etc underneath your project so that it doenst go onto your table top etc.

Here is a project I have done recently using the Scrapfx Pirate Album with the Graphite Glimmer Mist

I sprayed the Inside Skeleton with the Graphite Glimmer Mist and then placed it back into the centre of the album once I had covered it with the Patterned Paper

example of one of the inside pages - I used the front skeleton to use as a mask when doing the inside pages. I love the effect it created on the black pages.

I was 20 (omg!)
Half way through my second year of Tafe - completing my Diploma in Hospitality Management.
I was also a Manager at McDonalds in Burwood - ohhh we had some great times there.
(hadnt met Dale yet....that was the year after)

Due to me having the Flu, Ive been a bit behind in uploading my latest projects.

This is the card I created for my mum for mothers day.
It was also a challenge set by my friend Danielle. It was supposed to me monochromatic - but I dont do mono too well....but still happy with the results.

I came down with the FLU saturday night...and it hit me like a tonne of bricks.
So Mothers Day wasnt too pleasant...but I still had a great day.

Thursday night I had my 'annual' Catalogue Launch Party.
It was a HUGE success, with 22 keen stampers and scrapbookers attending.

I had a nice display showcasing alot of the NEW Stamps and tools in this years SU! Idea Book & Catalogue. A huge thanks to all my 'fellow demonstrators' who swapped cards with me at Convention - you helped me out big time for my Display Boards.

CONVENTION Brisbane 2008

WOW!!!
I have had the best weekend ever!

The theme for this years convention was 'Dream Big'

Brisbane was beautiful - 29C days and very much a 'layed-back' city.
We had 2 full days of workshops and seminars and then the formal Awards night on Saturday.

Once we had 'checked in' we received our name badges and a bag FULL of goodies
....very nice goodies too!

Inside our bags were 2 new sets from the New Idea Book & Catalogue

Fun and Fast notes
I also received from the 'Leadership night', the Garden Whimsy set
and for my Sales Award I received the It's all Good stamp set.

I SWAPPED my 50 cards and received these GORGEOUS cards and OTP items.

Tomorrow Im off to Brisbane for the 2008 Stampin' Up! Convention.

Im SO EXCITED!
Im flying up with a group of fellow demonstrators and 4 of us are sharing an apartment not far from where the CONVENTION will be held - Brisbane Convention Centre.

I wanted to upload pics of my Swaps.....but I have run out of time.

Had a fantastic weekend of celebrating with family and friends.

We had Pina Colada's and Fruit Tingle flavoured.

I received some awesome Pressies too.
Dale suprised me with a Nikon DIGITAL SLR camera......so not what i was expecting....I had sent him to Tiffany & Co, but I couldnt have asked for a better pressie.....now ive just got to learn how to use it....hehehehehehe.

Our table was SUPER LUCKY, with about 7 prizes won.

Tally so far is around the $11,000 - so a super effort by all the organisers and those who attended this year.

I sold all my items at the Trash and Treasure table - so I was super chuffed with that!

I made a little 'collections' owl at one of the make and takes and also managed to do a mini album and a LO - that I'm yet to complete....but will upload as soon as I have finished.

Product Challenge

I was challenged with the following over at Scrapbook Capital

lined note card
small divider card
Kaiser pearls

and here is what I came up with

I stamped on the note card and cut it out - to use for a journalling block
I also used it under some of the letters in the title.
The folder file card was tucked behind the large photo - and some journalling added too!
The Kaiser pearls, I painted red and addeds some kindy glitz too - so that they would match my Layout.

KI Paper Lace - just love this too...looks great overlayed

HEARTS for Mirabel

The lovely Nicole Finlayson recently asked me to make up a Heart for the 'Hearts for Mirabel' - I instantly wanted to help out....and with Valentines Day coming up....it was easy with so many delicious 'heart' related products available (specially from SU!)
They are going to be Sold at a place called "Meet me at Mikes" for $10 each - with all funds going to the Mirabel foundation...how cool is that?

Mirabel Foundation was established in 1998 to assist children who have been orphaned or abandoned due to parental illicit drug use and are now in the care of extended family (kinship care). Mirabel believes that every child deserves a childhood and its mission is to break the destructive cycle of addiction.

So here is the Heart I created

Crayon Resist Technique - Step by Step

Welcome to my second online technique tutorial.
This particular technique I was fortunate enough to learn at the latest SU! Regionals. It was demonstrated using different stamps by a fellow demonstrator Yvonne

Crayon Resist Technique
Materials

Stamps: French Flair (available in current summer mini catalogue)
Inks: Basic black, Cotton Candy Spectrum Pad
Cardstock: Glossy White, Pretty in Pink
Other: White Wax Crayon, Turquoise ribbon, brayer, tissue

All materials are by Stampin' Up! and can be purchased from me at anytime.

Step 1
Fold your piece of Pretty in Pink in half and use your bone folder along the edge to give a nice crisp fold line. Set aside for later.

Step 2.

Ink up your French Flair Background stamp, using the Basic Black in pad.
I find it easier to place the b'ground stamp facing up, and then applying the ink to the stamp (as shown in picture)

Stamp your 'inked-up' image onto the Glossy White Cardstock. Don't worry if the stamp is larger than your piece of cardstock. Just make sure you line it up nice and straight. Stamp down nice and firm and lift up nice and cleanly to avoid smudging.

Step 3
Outline the pattern from your stamped image using a White Wax Crayon (the one I have used here is from the SU! Watercolour Wonder Range - Neutral pack) You will not be able to see where I have outlined the white crayon from my pictures until later, but if you randomly follow the stamped image you will be fine.

Step 4

When you take off the lid of your spectrum pad you will notice 5 individual pads - when stored the pads are seperated, so that the colours do not bleed together.
When you are ready to use your spectrum pad, simply push the little lever towards the individual pads to push them together (don't forget to seperate them again when you are finished)
Ink up your brayer with the Spectrum Pad - by rolling the wheel over each colour. Continue 'wheeling' until the brayer has a full amount of colour all the way around.

Wheel your inked brayer over the Glossy White Cardstock (that you have already stamped). Making sure that you have a scrap piece of paper underneath.
I also start and end off the Glossy Cardstock to result in a nice even application. Continue rolling in a straght line up and down until you have a nice coverage.
Once finished you must quickly WIPE off the White Crayon resist lines with a tissue, before the ink dries completely. Do not worry the INK will not smudge.

You will be left with your Crayon Resist outlines in white.

Step 5

Apply some double sided tape to the reverse side of your stamped Glossy Cardstock

Attatch a piece of Turquoise Grosgrain ribbon to the front - making sure it is long enough to tuck and stick behind. Then attatch to your Pretty in Pink Card base.

Cut another piece of grosgrain ribbon to slot in behind

and tie off into a knot

Ta Da! You have your completed Crayon Resist Card

I've been PLAYING!!!!

Wow Ive had a good couple of days
Made some awesome samples with some new stamps and been playing with my new 'Nestabilities' - I ordered them from Bizzy Becs
These dies are fantastic...I'm already starting to wonder how i lived without them before.
I have been busy 'cutting' up all my scraps of coloured papers - so that I have LOADS of pre-cut shapes on hand for my cards.

As you can see, they go through the cuttlebug - and they are perfect for scraps of paper.
You can also feed them through the cuttlebug after you have cut out your shape, so that you get a nice embossed image on the Cardstock.

Stamps: Time Well Spent (this stamp set was a Chrissy pressie from SU! how nice are they? and guess what? It will be a Level 3 Hostess Stamp set in the new SU! Catalogue - coming in April 08)

Now that the workshops are slowing down for Christmas. I've had loads more time to do a 'spot' of scrapbooking.

Here is my latest layout
Using the New OWL chipboard from Scrapfx - this design is SO NEW...it hasnt even hit the shops yet. So make sure you ask your local scrapbook shop to order them in.

I also created this layout for the December sketch challenge over at Scrapbook Capital - the sketch is from Becky Flecks December Pagemaps.
For the OWL chipboard - I used the same technique as shown in my previous "Dazzling Diamond Tutorial"

this is my first EVER online Tutorial on my blog.
I really hope you enjoy this, as I'm hoping to do more!

This is the WOW demonstration I did at the recent Melbourne Stampin' Up! Regionals

Step 1: COLLECT your Materials

For this project I'm using:
Onboard Accents - Heart shape chipboard, Whisper White pigment ink pad, Heat and Stick Powder, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, Heat gun tool.

Step 2: INK up your chipboard

Using the Whisper White Pigment ink pad, ink up the entire chipboard shape.

Step 3: Sprinkle HEAT and STICK powder ALL over your 'inked' chipboard shape

Using one of our Powder Pal trays, makes using embossing powders and glitters a breeze to clean up. Once you have covered your chipboard shape with the Heat and Stick Powder, tap off excess into the tray and then pour back into its container.

Step 4: HEAT set the Heat and Stick Powder

With your heat gun, heat the Heat and stick powder until it goes 'glossy' - take care as you CAN OVER HEAT and burn. I like to use a rotating motion. You will see the powder go from Matte to Glossy fairly quickly.

Step 5: Adding the DAZZLING DIAMONDS

Sprinkle the Dazzling Diamonds over your Chipboard piece - that is NOW 'sticky' with the heated Heat and Stick Powder - Tap off excess into your Powder Pal Tray.

Step 6: Heat Set your Dazzling Diamonds
Once again use your Heat Gun Tool to 'quickly' re-heat and to Set the Glitter. This only takes a moment - be very careful not to OVER HEAT.

Step 7: Add to a Decorative box

For my triangle shaped box, I have used:
Basic Black cardstock, stamped with the NEW French Flaire background stamp (available from the 1st of December) in Whisper White Ink, I have decorated my Accents Chipboard shape with some of the NEW ribbons from the FLIRTY ribbon pack (also available from the 1st of December)

I couldnt wait to use this stamp set when it arrived....so I quickly whipped up this card for my new niece. I also used: Big Deal Alpha and Bodacious Bouquet.

Im memory of Dave Abbott,
Stampin' Up!'s Australian General Manager passed away in October from a very rare blood disease. I was unfortunate to not have met Dave - but from what other demonstrators have said about him, he was an amazing man and touched the hearts of many people.
